operation TULI

because of the stuff that's been happening in school, i really could not think of anything else... good thing our fabulous (***hint of sarcasm***) president declared this an extension of the holiday, so i got to rest, somehow.

anyway, i mentioned in a previous post that we would be helping out in operation tuli. yup, we did help out. i got to assist the doctor once. it was funny coz the first kid i was supposed to assist with had a very small, uhm, u know, so i could not retract the skin and... i won't go into details, so i hope you get the point.

anyway, the doctor said that we could not circumcise him yet coz he's not tagpos pa. so we sent him back to his father, and another kid came into the room.

the procedure was pretty fast, and im so glad that the kid i assisted with was not a bleeder.

afterwards, i went upstairs to my CI. she told us to take a turn in actually performing circumcision. so together with 2 other groupmates, i actually got to try circumcising a kid, with the supervision of our CI.

it was so fun! i actually got to cut the skin and take a turn in suturing. then of course, we had to do the dressing. it wasn't as hard as i thought.

so anyway, that evening, our prof asked us to write about our experience. i just wanted to share something i realized today.

... there are things that test our resolve to do the things we are doing. this community activity is one such thing that tested my resolve to pursue nursing... and iv come to realize that i actually like what im doing. not coz of the money that is involved in it... i just enjoy! (and even with all the crap we're going through in school, id still say i want to finish nursing!)
